Go Home, Afton – Brent Jones

Guys, it’s July! This is technically the last book I read in June though – so one final to the list of the first half of 2018.

Thanks to Smith Publicity for the free advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

GO HOME, AFTON – Brent Jones (out now!)

This is book one in a four book series, and I can’t wait for the next installment.

My Thoughts: 4/5 stars!

With this being a shorter novel, I don’t want to give away too much. Afton returned to her hometown to take a job at their local library. On the surface, she looks like your average 26 year old that’s a little rough around the edges. However, this librarian has a secret dark side and blood lust. This comes out in Animus. Animus is what she calls her dark side, her other half that manifests into a twin on she can see and hear.

When Animus has finally gotten Afton to agree that she needs to satisfy their craving for blood, she begins to stake out her first victim. She doesn’t want it to be just anyone, but someone that is awful and deserving. Things don’t always work out as perfectly as you think they will though.

Afton is an intriguing character and I love this concept. I’m looking forward to seeing where the author takes her next, and especially ending on that cliffhanger! I need to know what’s going to happen! This is a quick read and a solid start to this series. There were a couple parts that felt a tad slower, but I’m sure it’s just because we are getting introduced to the characters and the setting in order for the books to progress, and I’m anxious to see where we go from here.
