The best gifts are books and Chandra knows me so well when it comes to what books. This was a Christmas gift this year and I loved being able to add more to the extreme horror collection.
THE OBITUARIES ISSUE 5: DESTINATIONS OF DEATH – Daniel J. Volpe, Kristopher Triana & Aron Beauregard with special guest author Bryan Smith (Released October 25th, 2023)

Book Description:
The fifth issue of The Obituaries is here, and this time we’re featuring another legendary guest author, BRYAN SMITH
This paperback book contains a BRAND NEW novelette by Bryan Smith, as well as brand new novelettes by Aron Beauregard, Daniel J. Volpe, and Kristopher Triana, making this another large issue. It also features 19 all-new faux obituaries, including one Bryan Smith wrote about himself!
Featuring gruesome cover art by Imperial Skulls Studios and brutal interior illustrations by Nick Justus.
My Thoughts: 4/5 stars
Not only are the stories fantastic, but you’ll also get to read the obituaries for Chandra and Elizabeth (shereadswithcoffee on Instagram) – so definitely recommend checking those out! I think Chandra’s is perfect 😂
We have four stories here from four different authors. The Sick Place by Bryan Smith (my introduction to his writing), Live Nude Horror by Kristopher Triana, The Betrayers by Aron Beauregard, and Dopefiend by Daniel J. Volpe (also a first-time author for me). This is also my first Obituaries volume, so if you’ve read the other four volumes, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Please remember before picking this up that it is EXTREME horror. All kinds of trigger warnings and blood and gore and bodily fluids and plenty that will more than likely make you physically react to the book. Cringing was the main one for me this time around – I’m looking at you Kristopher Triana.
Also, because I read Chandra’s review, you also need this piece stuck in your mind before reading this – “a smorgasbord of goopy delight,” and she is 100% accurate in that statement. I think that sets the tone and expectations for what’s hiding between these pages, and talk about an incredible cover!
