Book Description:

Once upon a time, I thought I’d found my happy ever after. Until she ruined it all.

I’d been on the hunt for four long years, and I finally found her.

I planned the perfect revenge. Kidnapping Rapsody on the day she was set to marry another man and forcing her to face my wrath while trapped in the confines of my family’s gothic manor.

Despite my desire to punish her, there is still an undeniable pull between us. But as the walls of the manor close in around us, we both have to confront the truth. Can we trust each other, or will my dark past consume us both?

SHATTERED VOWS is a dark contemporary romance that weaves together the themes of desire and redemption and is a Rapunzel reimagining with the following tropes: age gap, anti-hero, gothic romance, secret society, forced proximity, opposites attract, enemies to lovers, morality chain, billionaire, and second chance.

My Thoughts: 4.5/5 stars

I know this is only book two, but I’m in love with this series and already counting down the days for the next one to release. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a sucker for a dark retelling/reimagining and I haven’t had very many Rapunzel stories in the mix. Book one was Beauty and the Beast and that really kicked off the series. In this book, we get to follow one of the other brothers that resides in Midnight Manor and his obsession with the woman that left him at the alter years ago.

Like book one, the gothic vibes are very much present and I love a good creepy and ominous house. Especially one with so many secrets and such a dark history hiding within the walls – it essentially ends up being its own character and plays its role. This book also has A LOT of spice to it. If you aren’t a fan of dark romance (the author does include the trigger warnings) then this won’t be the book for you. The history between Kol and Rapsody is a complicated one and trying to build back trust between them proves to be incredibly difficult (and with good reason).

I’m afraid to go into too much detail and spoil any little Easter eggs throughout the book, and despite this being able to be read as a standalone, I would recommend picking up book one (MOONLIT THORNS) because you get a tiny bit more background on the house and what happens within it that these brothers keep hidden. I am excited because there are multiple other siblings, which means more books in the series. Highly recommend and I know it’ll be one you fly through – I couldn’t tap through my Kindle fast enough.
