You Forgot My Face – Luella Shanae

It’s always exciting being able to be an early reader for a debut indie author! Here is someone I’m very anxious to see how she continues with her writing. If you want dark – then you need this one on your list.

Thanks so much to the author for the gifted ebook copy in exchange for my honest review

YOU FORGOT MY FACE – Luella Shanae (Released August 30th, 2024)

Book Description:

If you are not afraid of the darkness within yourself; if you seek to know how love becomes poison; if you seek answers and solutions… Come dive into the minds of liars and a murderer, victims, and a survivor.

What is it that turns love into poison?

Gothic horror novel based during Victorian era England. The book follows the Geoffrey brothers and their struggles with unhealed childhood traumas and the horrific choices they make in adulthood. These horrific choices are reflected in the lives of two women who are tired to the Geoffrey brothers. This is a story of generational trauma and the dark depths of human nature

My Thoughts: 4/5 stars

Do you love dark? Chilling? Gothic horror? Seriously flawed characters trying to work through their haunting pasts? I was incredibly impressed with this debut author. She was able to really get the reader inside the minds of these twisted characters. You feel their trauma, the internal fight between healing and continuing the generational abuse, and there isn’t really a likeable one in the conventional sense. The horrific things the Geoffrey brothers put people through are told through the eyes of the women they keep in their lives. I don’t know which brother is worse – you want to see the best in people, but some don’t have any in them. The gothic vibes are evident in the thick atmosphere, and we have a great horror novel for those not wanting anything extreme (I know I’ve been sharing a lot more of that genre lately).

I’m excited to see where Luella continues with her writing, and I think this one to check out and support a debut author!
