Blog Blitz & Review – Unleashed by Jane Henry

The newest from Jane Henry is here! While this is Polina from Wicked Vows, this is her story and the start of a new series. I won’t complain about a new series from Henry – give me all the dark mafia romance books.

Thank you Valentine PR and to the author for the gifted ebook copy

UNLEASHED – Jane Henry (Releasing December 13th, 2024)

Book Description:

I wake up chained to the bed of a stranger. He says I’m his wife.

I have nothing—no money. No friends. No escape.

He’s everything I never imagined: ruthless, calculating, feared. A beautiful monster with a face like a god’s, cold and untouchable. A mafia kingpin whose wealth could buy empires and whose power makes the world tremble.

My captor. My husband. He vows to protect me at all cost, and in return demands…everything. My body. My obedience. My submission.

Every touch, every brutal kiss stirs a dangerous desire neither of us can control. His words may be laced with venom, but his touch is fire, and every time he’s near, I burn. As days bleed into weeks, the fog of my past refuses to lift. The more I fight it, the harder I’m pulled into his orbit.

But as my memories start to unravel, I wonder—what if the past I can’t remember holds the key to our destruction? And when the truth finally comes out…will either of us survive?

For readers of the Wicked Vows series, this is the first book in a brand new, standalone, spin-off series. This is Polina’s story. Please note: Unleashed is a standalone dark romance with a strong, fierce heroine and an unapologetically obsessive, jealous, and possessive alpha anti-hero. No OW drama, no cliffhanger, always a hard-won HEA.

My Thoughts: 4/5 stars

I’m a sucker for a Jane Henry book – and the Wicked Vows series has been an addictive treat to read through. We FINALLY have Polina’s story. The only daughter/sister of the Romanov family and I was anxiously waiting for her turn to come. Jane Henry never disappoints and that’s no different here – UNLEASHED may be Polina’s story but it is also the beginning of a new series, but also a standalone story.

Polina is trying her hardest to make a life for herself before the inevitable happens. In her world, she knows she’ll eventually have to be married off to strengthen the family and solidify their power. She also knows her last name makes her a target and she has limited freedom due to constant surveillance and body guards. The time has come – a very real threat against her life and it is time for her and her mother to find safety at their family compound in Russia. In true Polina fashion, she tries to sneak in a moment of freedom, but to her detriment. After a bad hit to the head, she wakes up not knowing where she is, who she’s with, who she is, and who this man that claims to be her husband is.

Rafail is angry, and understandably so. Having been left at the altar he vows to punish the woman that left him and destroyed the promised alliance between the families. Anissa will pay and he will make sure the wife promised to him will never lead again. He chases down and captures the woman he thinks is Anissa and doesn’t understand why she does not recognize him or know who he is. Is her memory loss just an act?

I did like the interactions between Polina and Rafail – the amnesia plot line was done well but I still can’t believe that no one in the family figured out that Polina wasn’t the woman he was supposed to marry. You’d think someone would know immediately, but I guess arranged marriages work differently. As with any Jane Henry book there is some SPICE in this. This is a dark romance mafia novel – so there are a lot of trigger warnings listed in the synopsis and there is some violence. This book opened up an entire new world of characters and plenty that can get their own stories, and HOPEFULLY we can eventually meet this illusive Anissa.

About the Author:

Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read— character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
