More reviews! Getting caught up will take a few days, then there will be SO MANY blog tours coming at the end of the month. I’m loving all of the books so far.

THE CUL-DE-SAC – Christopher Null (Released February 10th, 2025)

Book Description:

How well do you really know your neighbors?

Veteran serial killer Klaus Fischer is determined that his most recent murder will be his last, but like many retirements, this one isn’t sticking. No one has come close to suspecting he’s buried the victims on his quiet suburban California cul-de-sac property—but he’s feeling the urge to kill again, and this time he’s set his sights on a target dangerously close to home.

Widowed Peg Jurgensen has lived on the cul-de-sac for the past fifteen years, and she’s ready to shed her doldrums and re-enter the world around her. And where better to start than with mothering the curious young teen Eliza van Damal, whose family just moved to the cul-de-sac in order to expose their daughter to a better life.

Eliza, however, prefers to coerce the enigmatic hermit next door, Alex, into helping her pass math. Alex wishes the lot of them would disappear.

The closer these misfits become, the more danger even the most ordinary conversations invite. As the body count rises, can these residents trust anyone hiding behind their doors on this street?

Fans of The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena, The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell and The Good Neighbor by A.J. Banner will love this domestic thriller filled with dark secrets and dangers lurking in a seemingly quiet suburban neighborhood…

My Thoughts: 4/5 stars

Now, we lived at the bottom of a steep cul-de-sac, so we saw pretty much everything that was happening. You might not think you’re going to be nosy, but oh boy, does that sneak up on you. My parents have shutters, and my mom will glance out them when a strange vehicle comes through – that’s the vibe of this kind of neighborhood, and you keep an eye on things for each other. But, what’s past the point of being neighborly? The GOSSIP.

In a neighborhood where everyone seemingly knows everything, you never actually know your neighbors. Klaus has been able to successfully hide the fact that he’s a serial killer entering retirement, Alex is a hermit who would prefer the neighbors just disappear, Peg is a widow and is trying to get back into the world and has her sights set on helping acclimate the new Eliza to the neighborhood. There’s blood, bodies piling up, plenty of anxiety inducing moments, and all in the quiet little suburban community.

Initially, it feels like a lot of characters, but they all shine on their own. I was hoping for more backstory on Klaus, a serial killer successfully avoiding detection for years. I think this was a solid and entertaining thriller – the ending?? How dare the author leave us with that cliffhanger! I need answers!
