The lilies finally decided to make their appearance – took until the first day of July, but I’m going to enjoy them for as long as I can.

THE SPECTACLE – Anna Barrington (Released July 8th, 2025)

Book Description:
A powerful art dealer who presents a convincing portrait of international success pulls an idealistic young gallery assistant into his web of lies. This sharp, edgy social thriller explores the price of ambition in the decadent underbelly of the high-end art world.
Nobody knows quite who Rudolph Sullivan is, or how he ascended so quickly to the glittering top of New York’s art scene. When aspiring artist and struggling gallery assistant Ingrid meets the charismatic dealer at a party, she falls fast—Rudolph offers her a seductive taste of luxury and an escape from her humdrum existence.
But Rudolph is hiding much more than his dazzling facade lets on. With insatiable tastes and a need to keep up appearances, his debts mount rapidly, and he turns to double dealing to stay afloat. As his adversaries close in, Rudolph realizes his fall from grace could cost him more than his reputation. Panicking, paranoid, and willing to sacrifice anyone to maintain his precarious foothold, he plans his most audacious gambit yet—and Ingrid is at the center of it.
My Thoughts: 3.5/5 stars
Who knew the high-end world of art dealing could be so cutthroat and dark? I guess every industry has its dirty and dark secrets, and Ingrid is caught in the cross hairs.
Ingrid is an aspiring artist and majorly struggling gallery assistant. One night, she crosses paths with Rudolph Sullivan, one of the most successful and mysterious art dealers in New York. He leads a lavish and luxurious lifestyle, and Ingrid is immediately swept away by him. As we all know in a good thriller, things are never as they seem. The cracks in his elegant facade are beginning to show, and Ingrid wonders what secrets he is keeping from her.
Things take a dark turn, and we really get to see how far ambition and deception can take you. Some parts get super tense, and you can’t put it down. The characters are complex, and Rudolph’s charisma jumps off the page, and I can see why Ingrid became entranced by him. I had a blast with this and was pleasantly surprised. Knowing nothing about art collecting or dealing, this was an interesting and new premise for a thriller and broke the same domestic suspense predictability.
