My Thoughts: 5/5 stars!

This cover caught my attention and then after reading the first line, “They didn’t plan to kill my mother”, I was hooked. BONE MUSIC by Christopher Rice looks like an intimidating read with the over 400 pages to it, but I promise you, it’s a fast read!

Charlotte Rowe spent the first part of her life being raised by the only parents that she knew. Little did she know, they were a pair of serial killers who had murdered her mother. They had more sinister plans when they decided to raise Charlotte as their own. After her rescue, her biological father decided to use her story for all that it was worth and cashed in on her traumatizing ordeal. You’d think that’d be the worst anyone could endure, right? Well, now that Charlotte thinks she has left her past behind her she is dosed with an experimental drug. Now with a new shocking side effect, Charlotte finds herself being hunted by a corporation that wants to harness her new power.

Charlotte is a fantastic character. She’s flawed, smart, and understandably paranoid about her surroundings. I wouldn’t expect anything less when you find out you’ve been raised by serial killers that murdered your mother. Rice does a great job with the fluidity of the novel and I didn’t even realize how far I had read until I saw it was 2am.

Overall, this is a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to see what Rice has in store for us! If you like a good thriller with some science fiction and medical technology thrown in, then this is the next book for you.

Is this one on your radar?

  1. Um … yes? This sounds fantastic? The paragraph where you give the background took so many unexpected turns for me, I absolutely need to know what happens! I hadn’t heard of this one before but it’s definitely on my radar now. Lovely review!
