RUPTURE – Ragnar Jonasson
This is part of the Dark Iceland series!
My Thoughts: 4/5 stars!
When starting this book I knew that it was part of a series, but I wasn’t entirely sure on the order of the books. Despite this being book three in the series, it reads really well as a standalone (in my opinion). I can definitely see there being some spoilers though if reading them out of order – in regards to character development. Side note – my dad does this with the Jack Reacher series, he picks up any title he sees that he hasn’t read and doesn’t try to go in order, and it hurts my head!
RUPTURE is a perfect Nordic Noir book. What I’ll always love about this genre of thrillers/suspense is how atmospheric they are. The author does an incredible job setting the scene and pulling you into the book and the mystery. It is a translation, so I know those can be harder for some people to get into, or at least get used to the translation.
An eerie mystery, gripping moments interspersed perfectly, well-developed characters, and an intricately woven story made for a quick read. I love Jonasson’s writing style – he pulls you in from the start and keeps stringing you along until the last page. If you’re a fan of the series, then you definitely need to continue! If you’re looking for a new Nordic Noir series, then I highly recommend picking up the Dark Iceland series.
