My Thoughts: 4/5 stars!

This was my introduction to Kerry Lonsdale, and I had heard nothing but great things about her previously released series. I was very curious about LAST SUMMER (a new standalone) because it had to do with memory, and despite having recently read a few others that had to do with a similar topic, I couldn’t wait to see how the author was going to approach it.

We’ve seen this premise before – our lead character loses their memory in a tragic accident and we get to see them piece everything together as the book progresses. Well, Lonsdale did not disappoint with the twists and turns! When Ella wakes up in the hospital she has no memory of who she is or her life. She has no memory of being pregnant or the miscarriage that occurred as a result of her accident. She desperately is trying to unlock her memories and learns quickly that those she is told she can trust – her husband, family, friends, colleagues – are some of those that are keeping secrets from her.

I think this book had plenty of twists to keep you on your toes and to keep this premise fresh. I couldn’t have predicted that ending, at all. Lonsdale keeps pulling you in different directions and just when you think you’ve figured it out, she throws something new at you. Everything came together nicely in the end and I loved the writing style. I clearly need to go back and pick up more of her books!
