THE ANGEL OF INDIAN LAKE – Stephen Graham Jones (Releasing March 26th, 2024)

Book Description:

The final installment in the most lauded trilogy in the history of horror novels picks up four years after Don’t Fear the Reaper as Jade returns to Proofrock, Idaho, to build a life after the years of sacrifice—only to find the Lake Witch is waiting for her in New York Times bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones’s finale.

It’s been four years in prison since Jade Daniels last saw her hometown of Proofrock, Idaho, the day she took the fall, protecting her friend Letha and her family from incrimination. Since then, her reputation, and the town, have changed dramatically. There’s a lot of unfinished business in Proofrock, from serial killer cultists to the rich trying to buy Western authenticity. But there’s one aspect of Proofrock no one wants to confront…until Jade comes back to town. The curse of the Lake Witch is waiting, and now is the time for the final stand.

New York Times bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones has crafted an epic horror trilogy of generational trauma from the Indigenous to the townies rooted in the mountains of Idaho. It is a story of the American west written in blood.

My Thoughts: 5/5 stars

Like all good things, it is time for this trilogy to wrap up and as someone that loved the first two, I was SO READY for this.

This is the final installment and takes place four years after the events of book two, Don’t Fear the Reaper, and you HAVE to read books one and two before picking this up. I know some series you can jump in whenever but not this one. Taking this into consideration, if you want to start the series, you should read the review with caution as it will spoil some events of those books.

After taking the fall for her friend and to protect her family, Jade is out of prison and heading back to her hometown of Proofrock. She has unfinished business and is determined to take care of it. The Lake Witch is waiting for a final stand, and I don’t think you’re prepared for the ending!

I love Jade. She’s been an incredible character to see grow from book one until now. Jones brought her to life, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her evolution. As with the others, the horror tropes and bits you want in the genre are amazing, and I mean, serial killer cultists?? Say no more. I’m not gonna ruin too many specifics because this needs to be experienced. But this trilogy was gripping from start to finish, and I can’t wait to see what’s next from Jones.
