My Thoughts: 4/5 stars
This was my introduction to CW Farnsworth and from what I’ve seen from other reviews, this the second generation to another series. Still a standalone, just less background on some of the family members, etc. While I wasn’t lost, I think I may have had more appreciation at the return characters but I still enjoyed the new main characters!
I will admit, the beginning got mildly dull. While I do love the billionaire trope, I think I prefer the darker side of it. The secret societies, organized crime – the more aristocratic billionaire trope isn’t quite the same. Some of the descriptions with the high society was hard to stay engaged with.
The immediate attraction and charge between them was consuming and their mild cat and mouse was fun. When the romance started I felt more of a draw to the story and things got more interesting and exciting. Would I pick up more from this author? Of course! I did love the writing and the character development, it’s just a slightly different side of a trope I enjoy. If you enjoy the high society trope in romance, then you’ll love this one!
