KILL CREEK by Scott Thomas (released on Halloween!)
My Thoughts: 5/5 stars!
Now, I’m a huge horror fan, and with that being said it’s hard for books and movies to actually scare me. Well, if you’re a horror lover looking for the next creepy read, then look no further. KILL CREEK by Scott Thomas is the perfect eerie, creepy, and scary haunted house story. Throw in horror authors as the main characters, and we’ve got a recipe for an exciting book!
Set back in the Kansas countryside sits the Finch House. This abandoned house has made a reputation for itself as one of the country’s most infamous haunted houses and its doors will be opened once more for a new set of visitors.
Sam McGarver is a best-selling horror author, and when he is invited to stay Halloween night at the Finch House, he doesn’t pass up the opportunity. Not wanting to be alone, he invites three fellow horror authors, and together the four of them will spend the night in Finch House on Halloween night. A publicity stunt quickly turns into a fight for survival. Their presence has awoken something that will torment them – will they become a part of the legacy of Kill Creek?
I loved this book. Not only did I love the concept of the horror authors going into a haunted house – I mean you have to be expecting them to be the biggest skeptics (or would they be in denial?) of the all the paranormal activities taking place. I don’t want to give away too much about what else happens because I feel like these types of haunted house novels are ones you need to fully experience without spoilers! There’s dark humor, action, butting heads between the authors, and every horror book wouldn’t be complete without murder. This book grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go!
Overall, if you love a good and scary haunted house, then you need KILL CREEK on your TBR. If you like being scared and experiencing that “someone is standing behind me” paranoia while you read, then look no further. I’ll definitely be looking for more from Scott Thomas!
