My Thoughts: 5/5 stars!

I’m not sure what it is about 2017 and upcoming 2018 books, but there are so many incredible thriller debuts! THE ECHO KILLING by Christi Daugherty is no different. Book one in the new Harper McClain series and I’m already hoping for a book two!

In the Southern town of Savannah, a murder of a young woman has an eerie resemblance to an unsolved murder 15 years earlier. Harper McClain became one of the best crime reporters in Georgia. Her drive came from trying to solve her mother’s murder – which is a never-ending obsession.

The murder of Marie Whitney bares striking similarities to the murder of Harper’s mother. Is the same killer returning 15 years later? Is this a copy cat? McClain will stop at nothing to find this killer and stop them before they can forever change someone else’s life. Even if that means she becomes the next target.

I had a hard time believing that this was a debut. Daugherty’s background in journalism shines through in this novel. Knowing that she covered murder stories and in the same town as THE ECHO KILLING makes it feel very authentic. Daugherty effortlessly pulls the reader into Savannah and into the murders. I love a thriller that is from the perspective of someone other than the police investigators. It has a quick pacing and after a couple of chapters you’ll find yourself hooked. Not only was the scenery well-developed but so were the characters. I look forward to reading more about Harper McClain!

Overall, if you want a twisty thriller with a cold, calculating killer, then be sure to pick up THE ECHO KILLING. Are you a fan of a murder investigation but want a fresh perspective? You’ll love Harper McClain and be anxiously waiting for her next case.

Anyone else getting super excited for any upcoming 2018 releases?
