Who else loves subscription boxes? Well, I’m really loving the Quirk Books BookPop! Box they’ve been sending out monthly. This month’s theme was all about Comic Con.
These books look hilarious. I love the cover art and I’m excited for Fred Van Lente’s newest book coming out this summer. I really enjoyed TEN DEAD COMEDIANS last year.
Thanks to Quirk Books for sending me this month’s box!
THE CON ARTIST – Fred Van Lente (Releasing July 10th, 2018)
NIGHT OF THE LIVING TREKKIES – Kevin David Anderson (out now)

THE CON ARTIST – Fred Van Lente
There’s murder at San Diego Comic Con in this entertaining summer read from a Marvel/DC comics veteran Fred Van Lente, featuring illustrations in classic comic book style.
Comic book illustrator Michael Yoo is having a terrible week. He’s just arrived in San Diego for Comic-Con — the annual nerd Mardi Gras that triples the beachside city’s population with 150,000 fans. Michael hopes to spend the next five days working his booth in Artist’s Alley, where he’ll sign autographs and sell sketches for $40 a pop. Instead he’s implicated in the death of his editor, the widely feared and reviled Danny Lieber. There are plenty of suspects onhand — from rival illustrators to burlesque cos-players. But the most valuable clues might be hidden in Michael’s own sketchbook. He’s spent a good portion of the convention illustrating people he’s met and places he’s visited, and he’s inadvertantly captured some very important information. The devil is in the details, and readers who pay careful attention to this book’s black-and-white sketches will be on the right trail to unmask the murderer.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING TREKKIES – Kevin David Anderson
Journey to the final frontier of sci-fi zombie horror!
Jim Pike was the world’s biggest Star Trek fan—until two tours of duty in Afghanistan destroyed his faith in the human race. Now he sleepwalks through life as the assistant manager of a small hotel in downtown Houston.
But when hundreds of Trekkies arrive in his lobby for a science-fiction convention, Jim finds himself surrounded by costumed Klingons, Vulcans, and Ferengi—plus a strange virus that transforms its carriers into savage, flesh-eating zombies!
As bloody corpses stumble to life and the planet teeters on the brink of total apocalypse, Jim must deliver a ragtag crew of fanboys and fangirls to safety. Dressed in homemade uniforms and armed with prop phasers, their prime directive is to survive. But how long can they last in the ultimate no-win scenario?
