The Highwayman – Matt Manochio

Went up north this weekend and had to bring this quick thriller read with me!

Thanks to the author for the free copy in exchange for my honest review.

THE HIGHWAYMAN – Matt Manochio (out now!)

My Thoughts: 4/5 stars!

This is on the shorter side for the thriller genre – 240 pages – and it really packed a punch! When child predators start turning up murdered, and across multiple states, the FBI is on the hunt for this self-proclaimed vigilante. The author brings us between the perspectives of the killer and the FBI agents hunting them down. The plot has a few twists and turns and Manochio weaves a story that sucks you in from the start and doesn’t let go. I really enjoyed the different elements that he laid out for us in this thriller. I’m certainly hoping for more with Agent Moreland – we need more kick ass female agents in these series!

What I loved about this was the moral and ethical dilemma. Yes, someone is murdering these people, but they’re child predators and caused so much damage and harm to innocent children. You kind of want to be cheering for the vigilante at work, but know that this isn’t the way to go about punishing these evil people.

If you’re looking for a quick thriller where you track down the serial killer, then this is the perfect addition to your TBR. This doesn’t have some gruesome moments and does deal with child predators, so those are both good points to be made before diving in.
