THE STORIES YOU TELL – Kristen Lepionka (out now!)

Check out my reviews for her other books, WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE here

My Thoughts: 5/5 stars!

I’m a huge fan of the Roxane Weary series and I’m just amazed at how Lepionka is able to consistently come out with books that keep the series going strong. So often do we see the 2nd or 3rd entry in a crime series falter and act as a filler to set up events for the upcoming books, but not in the Weary series! Considering this is a police procedural, it reads surprisingly quick and doesn’t have any lulls like some procedurals tend to have.

While this one is book three in the series, I think it would be easy for anyone to pick up as a standalone. That being said, there are some loose ends from book two (WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE) that carry over into this book. I love how Lepionka has developed and continues to develop Roxane. Her thought process and methods for solving the cases is refreshing and keeps you on your toes. I didn’t see that ending coming, and I liked that it wasn’t some crazy and unbelievable twist – instead it was one of those, “how did I not see that” twists. Isn’t that what all crime fiction readers are looking for?

I highly recommend picking up this series and I cannot wait for the next book to come! Now the waiting game starts – the worst part about grabbing the next book immediately.
