Happy Friday! Not only was I looking forward to this book but there was something even more exciting within the pages when I received it. I read book one, LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO, and absolutely loved it (I’ll include the link for my review). Inside book two, this one, I saw that my review is quoted! This is such a lovely surprise and after 5 years of my blog and 7 years of my Bookstagram account, this feels like a huge accomplishment.
Thanks to Grand Central Pub and Elaine Murphy for the gifted copy!
I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN – Elaine Murphy (Released July 12th, 2022)
You can check out my review for book one here

Book Description:
Fans of Darcey Bell, B.A. Paris, and Samantha Downing will be hooked on this gripping follow-up to Elaine Murphy’s debut thriller, Look What You Made Me Do.
Carrie’s sister is dead.
Four months after losing her sister, Becca—a serial killer unknown to everyone else in town—Carrie Lawrence is finally free of her manipulative clutches. From now on, she’s keeping her hands clean, no more hiding dead bodies in the middle of the night, no more lies.
She’s never been happier.
Then she attends a meeting of the Brampton Kill Seekers, a group of amateur local sleuths, and learns that a recent victim left behind a note that incriminates her in their disappearance. All of a sudden the quiet, law-abiding life she’s been planning starts to unravel.
She’s never had so much to lose.
In her frantic quest to keep her secret dead and buried, she discovers someone nefarious lurking in the shadows…someone who’ll go to any lengths to bring her dark truths to light. Now if Carrie wants her secrets to stay hidden, she’ll have to get her hands very, very dirty.

My Thoughts: 5/5 stars
This is the follow up to LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO, and you definitely need to read that one first. You need to know the events in that book in order to continue on with I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN. Usually crime fiction series or thriller series can be read as standalone books but that is not the case here. I’ll say right now, I absolutely loved book one. It was a quick and easy read, lots of suspense and a fast pace, two serial killers – what else could a thriller fan want? I will say that my expectations were kind of high going into this one, and thankfully, it did not disappoint.
Once again we get a fast-paced thriller and the same snarky sense of humor from the first book. Carrie can finally rest easy after her sister, the serial killer, is gone. No more hiding bodies in the middle of the night to help her sister and no more fears of possibly being the next victim. Until a string of killings happen that have an eerie similarity to how her sister would kill her victims. Is this a copycat killer? Is she in danger?
This had some farfetched and over-the-top moments, but that’s exactly what I wanted with this. Like the first book, this also had plenty of twists and I wasn’t expecting the ending. I hope there’s more to come from Murphy and I can’t recommend these books enough!
