THE WORD IS MURDER – Anthony Hororwitz (out now!)
Having loved MAGPIE MURDERS, I was really excited to receive a copy of this new one 🙂
My Thoughts: 5/5 stars!
This novel has such a creative narrative style to it! Not only do we have a great murder mystery but the author places himself into the novel. This is such a clever element to it and something I don’t think I’ve come across before.
The mystery is surrounding a wealthy woman in her sixties. Just hours after she has finalized the paperwork for her wishes on her funeral, she is found strangled to death. The question becomes, did she also plan her own death? With a private detective on the case they are determined to uncover the array of secrets surrounding the investigation.
I loved that Horowitz put himself into the novel. He begins to uncover all of the bloody clues and slowly finds that he’s hot on the trail of this murder mystery. I don’t want to give away too much about his own role in the novel because I thought this was a fun surprise to come across while reading. You’ll love and hate the characters, have plenty of twists, some dark humor to blend well with the murder, and a great investigation!
I will definitely be picking up more by Anthony Horowitz in the near future and can’t wait to see what he comes out with next.
What did you think of this one? Do you like when the authors add that personal and unique touch to their books?
