This series, the Alarie Heirs, has had me glued from book one. While you don’t HAVE to read books one and two (BROKEN IN THE DARK and BETRAYED IN THE DARK), I highly recommend it. Considering the endings of books one and two, I think you should pick up the books from the beginning. These interconnected series always have some background info for the overarching story that is always helpful for filling in the blanks. Especially after those cliffhangers!
Alina and Mauro are our FMC and MMC. These two are going through it and both are dealing with some heavy emotions and grief. Hopelessly in love with each other for years, from afar, they enter into a marriage of convenience after crossing paths again. They have their own traumas and insecurities to work through but are almost completely avoiding the obvious – that they’re in love and this doesn’t have to only be a marriage of convenience. The secrets run deep and the twist in the book will get readers emotional and you’ll feel so deeply for them both.
Once thing I’ve loved about this series is how the author creates these characters. They’re more than violent mafia types and cold billionaires, they have complexities and struggles that they keep buried deep. The FMCs always compliment them so well and their chemistry just can’t be ignored. The banter, the romance, and the family bonds. I’ll continue to impatiently wait for more of the Alarie Heirs. Read these now and thank me later!
